Peanut Butter Picassos- Glow in the Dark Dinosaurs

K, E and I arrived early to the studio to set up the easels, canvases, brushes, bowls, smocks and rags.  This class was going to be extra special since we were using glow in the dark paint.  I wanted to do something to celebrate the 4th of July- something sparkly- so K and I came up with this theme!

Here is the room before the kiddos arrive...

And then they arrive.

So what do you get when you put 12 kids in a room, with their moms and you give 8 of them paint, paintbrushes and a mission to paint either glow in the dark fireworks or dinosaurs?

You get happy faces like this!!!

And like this...

You see children focus and get down to business, like this...

And like this- now that is focus!

Here are our dinosaurs and stars drying on the sidewalk- almost ready for the glow in the dark paint!

After we painted the Glow in the Dark paint we let it dry for a bit, ate some snacks, talked, discussed our favorite movies, cartoons, outdoor activities...  And then we took the paintings into the bathroom, turned off the light and shut the door.  And we had a parade of glowing dinosaurs under sparkly fireworks.  The kids thought it was awesome and there were lots of oohs and ahhs (some from the moms, too!).

It was so much fun, can't wait the bring out the GITD paint again- maybe for spooky halloween paintings!  Thanks everyone for coming to paint with us and we will see you next class!
